but you know the counterparties (I dunno, in that case the Taliban I guess)
if you choose to do this, it is very admirable
just like nobody at gunpoint grabs librarians and auditors and sends them to Seal Team Six to jump out of helicopters
nobody came at gunpoint and made me go to the frontier
but that is my choice
which is why I am on the frontier
i would of course rather hari-kiri than do this
you want a "safe job" where the paycheck will land every month, well I dunno, the federal government is usually hiring
but out on the frontier, well, there are casualties
some people are called to it
at gunpoint
nobody is forcing anyone to the frontier
and go out to the frontier
but it is a deliberate decision to leave the comforting arms of normal society
it is very noble, it is very admirable
but entrepreneurs, artists, etc are looking for freedom, for independence, for being able to do what they want, to birth their world view on the world
if someone wants a steady salary, there are vast number of steady jobs available
the way our society is structured (correctly I believe) nobody owes an entrepreneur or artist or anyone who is structured that way with the agency to do what they want anything
and a lot of the discussion in NFT world is a bit naive about this
it is a multi party game
it is not a single party game
with their actions and dollars
also get a "vote"
because the other stakeholders (the gazelles) - the customers and competitors also have skin in the game, also are live players
anymore than anyone can guarantee that everyone who starts a company will become successful
nobody can fix this
it is because it is very hard!
of course it is mostly "failures"
to find a combination that works
you have to find your way through a hyper-dimensional landscape
in both cases there is no safety net
being an artists is like being a startup entrepreneur
and people get to go along for the ride doing tasks
someone else found product market fit
which is why most people are employees
is one of the hardest things in the world
eg. the people who want to purchase the thing you make for more money than it costs you to make it
but finding "product market fit"
both popular activities because the rewards emotional and financial and reputational to success are high
both these are high failure rate activities
for the same reason that it is "hard to make a successful startup business"
"why is it hard to make a career selling art"
more productive, more cooperative etc etc
because more educated citizens are better for the collective
even in countries with limited interest in the individual, there is mandatory schooling
so whether luxembourg or north korea, we have schools
but at the top level societies figured out they should try to educate everyone to reasonable levels
they matter at the next level of detail
these don't matter so much
