8/ I set up collection.6529.eth last weekend so we can start our art collecting and I almost wanted to hari-kiri myself - the process of "set up a SAFE, signers, ENS, primary name, consolidations, etc, etc) --- well FFS we are so embarrassing UX wise

this is the thing; decentralization is not cheap

yeah it was a pretty big lift; it has been on my to do list for a long time but it basically means rebuilding large parts of the manifold website

e.g. this means that you know you can always mint to your manifold contracts even if manifold "goes away" (again, I am not saying they are going away; it is a belt and suspenders thing)

I want to see if we can generalize it and make it as part of a toolkit for all artists for the same decentralization reasons

This is great for network decentralization and in fact necessary, but after we use it for a while

7/ @[prxt0] is very close to shipping something very interesting on the admin side -> has been on our to-do list forever. you know how we have our own page for minting the memes manifold contract (where you mint a meme card)? well we have been using the manifold admin interface to do the setup and strictly speaking that is a centralization point and an external dependency. while I do not think the manifold website is about to disappears, along the fullness of time, you can't depend on it. so we have built this in our codebase to go directly to the contract

4/ we need to build decentralized (higher order) systems for all the obvious reasons

3/ I am not sure what the Chinese open source strategy means for this, but so far they are only open-sourcing things that are pre-ASI. I don't know that they would open-source an actual ASI

2/ for 13 years now, I repeat: crypto is decentralizing; AI is centralizing. I think this is inevitable

worst case they get (effectively) nationalized - I don't mean the government is going to take their shares or anything; I don't think they care about that. but they do care about someone summoning a god

The best case for them is they become something like Lockheed Martin on this topic (independent, but ok Lockheed Martin is not allowed to sell F-35s to whoever they want or decide who gets to use F-35s and how)

Obviously the federal government is going to take an extreme interest in such a thing

Well, ok, let's say it is true (because they say it is true)

They have said over and over and over again that they are summoning superhuman powers that might a) given unbeatable national superiority or b) kill everyone

They are not Aunt Sally baking cookies and selling them for a profit

Based on their own extremely loud statements, they are not normal companies

At the end of the day, they live in a country, the country has laws, police, military, etc
