I think it is a very important distinction

and then network is the high TDH people
these down the road concepts only emerge if the network does something
You don't think people are collecting TDH for utilization down the line, like 2030?
it is worse - TDH makes you a steward of something important and you need to make good decisions and help this important thing live
as I have said many times, the utility of the memes is that I am going to lecture you to do more for decentralization
Nope
TDH is a byproduct and it's fun to use it is where I'm at
if by utility we mean "they can participate in the most interesting experiment in crypto" then i agree that is why they are here
if by utility we mean they are going to get a boat party, free socks, etc, then no
I feel like most of the long term holders are here for the future utility of TDH
the art stands by itself
i had to (and continue to) believe that if the experiment part dies
the art has to stand alone
in any case, the answer to this question is the same answer to the memes to date
what have I ever given high TDH holders except the opportunity to do more work?
Is TDH not about future utility?
in the context of the memes, I actually have no problem with people gamifying their card (Hakatao did) so long as the card is good
imagine thinking: "if you buy this Picasso, you get a pair of fucking socks"
and the JPG rapidly collapses to the value of the utility (which of course in this case is effectively none)
and instead of your $50,000 JPG being worth $50,010 because now you get a watered down well vodka soda, your $50,000 JPG suddenly, voluntarily, has told you "an important part about this JPG is that you get a crappy $10 drink at a crappy club"
and instead of your $50,000 JPG being worth $50,010 because now you get a watered down well vodka soda, your $50,000 JPG suddenly, voluntarily, has told you "an important part about this JPG is that you get a crappy $10 drink at a crappy club"
did I pay $50,000 to get a $10 drink ticket to a club that I would never voluntarily go to?
wait
and suddenly you start thinking
and then they sent you socks and drink tickets to Webster Hall (for those who don't know, it is a starter club in NYC you go with your fake ID at 18 because no serious club will let you in)
moonbirds were worth astronomical amounts of money
let's take the classic example
nah, it all died pretty rapidly
At one point it felt like this space valued that 100x higher than the art. Glad some of that has subsided compared to that point in time
most of the time *at the time* and the rest of the time a few months / years later
the risk with utility is that 99% of the time it is ends up being ultra cringe
the risk with utility is that 99% of the time it is ends up being ultra cringe
meaning, identity, provenance are what matter
probably bordering on anti-driver
utility is the weakest and worst form of value driver for art
it will all be forgotten
my take is "eh"
but anyway this is like a whole order of magnitude different conversation than this one
i still think @[6529er] and I like it more than consensus tbh
he is forever marred
hard to answer specifically until i understand what the pitch is here
I was hopeful to hear a little more feedback on the idea of soliciting utility for TDH
@[6529er] loved it!
I think everyone is on the same page
Also, I do want to ask on how did this card make it through your curation (joking, it's an inside meme now)
so I am going to do coaching
1/ the easy part of the job is when someone drops something perfect first time and you can just say "wow"
2/ the other easy part of the job is when someone tells you something stupid and you just say "no"
3/ the hard part of the job is when something may have potential but needs more work and most people get worried about feelings and their own discomfort, but because I am, as they say, a seasoned CEO, I am well beyond this
I’m happy this experiment is happening. If we didn’t have debates or lobbying then as punk6529 says, we will collapse into low standards
way
and I am lobbying, specifically, that I think the concept is promising but he should aim to make the art more excellent at which point I will lobby in the opposite
i agree completely TDH will decide which is why I am voting my TDH and just like @[MintFace] is allowed to lobby for how he thinks people should vote, I am allowed to lobby too
I personally agree exactly with how you feel. But my point is that the RDH votes decides no matter what I think. And RDH votes can be distributed for many reasons besides artistic merit. A thing I think should be front and centre. But that might not be what happens.
i don't particularly care about the message, about the artistic style, etc, etc
low standards lead to unfixable collapse
high standards breed high standards
but i am more mature and experienced in this than anyone here and so i am going to do some coaching
couple of weeks or something
it is not bad
well we are in agreement, in addition to being stuck in o3, I thought it was really interesting for me to go without voting before I got concerned
I think this is fair but I also don't think the network is mature yet
A lot of it is going to be relationship based initially and ofcourse there will be meme cards that stand out purely on the basis of work/memetic value
eg. @[bongdoe]
we have worked very very very hard to be able to say "whatever else you might think about what we are done, you will be proud artistically to have this on your wall, if nothing ever happens, if 6529 is nothing more than this art curation, it goes down in history"
but if the next 30 cards are like this, the memes are over, done, finished
and ok there is probably a 2%-5% the memes can tolerate that
i mean we are all friends and doing our own insider jokes
by this i don't mean conspiracy
is happening
and a bit too much insider stuff
