is that the whole MSM failed the "it is not that hard test"

and so what is alarming me

literally all that was needed was a Bill Clinton: "I feel their pain, it is horrible and that guy should be locked up"

or people might start thinking you have different standards for things that fit or not fit your narrative

then you have to at least "thoughts and prayers" every shitty situation

so if GF is/was important enough to semi-excuse rioting etc

the issue is that rightly or wrongly people can point down to a year-long spectacle with George Floyd

look being soft on crime is a losing issue

the cure to this is for the people on the other side to unequivocally condemn the murder without a bunch of qualifying statements about how support systems are broken etc

well, whose narrative does that play into?

the mayor of Charlotte gave her statement and seemed significantly more concerned about the perpetrator than the victim right?

this is the ultimate danger with all this

and of course what happens is that eventually normal people will be like "wait, maybe the racists are right after all"

I have yet to meet a single person who is like "yeah, I wonder what will happen if we let people shoplift without consequences" and conclude "it will probably work out great and nobody will abuse this system"

it is brain-dead

this is not correcting structural racism

this type of stuff is maddening

one guy has been arrested 500 times or something

so you have this ridiculous situation where some absolutely tiny number of people are some material % of the shoplifting in NYC

where you literally can't keep shoplifters in jail

now you have a situation (imposed by Albany)

huge huge benefits to the city

even by cracking down on little stupid things

so by analogy NYC did incredible things for decades improving the quality of life

I have been near or in NYC almost my whole life

and it seems very clear to me that they need to cool it, both because I substantively believe it (they are above their social absorption capacity) and also process wise because they are trying to protect multiculturism or whatever they think they are doing but they will ultimately destroy it this way
